Background: The Sarvabhuta Chinta Sharir Adhyaya serves as a foundational pillar in Ayurvedic literature,
elucidating the complex relationship between the Panchamahabhuta (five elemental constituents) and the
human physiology. Despite its historical significance, a rigorous academic re-evaluation is required to bridge
the conceptual framework of classical Siddhanta with modern systemic biology.
Objective: This critical review aims to perform a comprehensive analysis of the concepts detailed in the
Sarvabhuta Chinta Sharir Adhyaya, exploring their philosophical underpinnings and their potential
implications for contemporary physiological understanding.
Methods: A qualitative, thematic analysis of the original Samhita text was performed, supported by primary
commentaries and historical interpretations. A systematic search of contemporary databases, including
PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, was conducted to identify integrative studies bridging
Ayurvedic anatomical principles with modern physiological concepts.
Results: The study highlights how the Sarvabhuta Chinta framework provides a holistic paradigm for
understanding human morphogenesis, cellular differentiation, and environmental interdependence. The
analysis demonstrates that the classical categorization of elemental manifestations offers a sophisticated
model for understanding human health that complements reductionist modern physiological approaches.
Conclusion: The findings suggest that the principles of Sarvabhuta Chinta are not merely historical relics
but are highly relevant to current discussions on personalized medicine and integrative health. Further
interdisciplinary research is recommended to validate these ancient principles through modern biophysical
and clinical parameters.
