Abstract

The preschool period is a critical window for the development of executive functions (EFs) and the
regulation of emotional responses, including stress. Deficits in these areas can lead to academic and
social difficulties later in life. This study investigates the efficacy of a structured mindfulness-based
intervention (MBI) program, "The Mindful Little Explorer," designed for preschool children aged 4-5
years. The primary aim was to assess the program's impact on core EFs—working memory, cognitive
flexibility, and inhibitory control—and its role in reducing perceived stress levels. A quasi-
experimental, pre-test/post-test control group design was employed.
