Abstract

Functional constipation is a common childhood problem in which quality of life is
markedly impaired and conventional therapies are largely unsatisfactory. Objective: The present study
was conducted to prepare and standardize a novel paediatric herbal suppository using Vṛkṣamla
(Garcinia indica Roxb.) and Eranda Taila (castor oil) based on references in classic Ayurvedic texts,
including Vaidya Tārakam, a Kerala regional treatise.
